Antique Queen Anne Style Chinoiserie Mirror

A charming late 19th Century japanned pier mirror decorated in imitation of oriental lacquer, the multi-tiered double-scroll cresting decorated with scenes of exotic birds resting among golden foliage. The upper arched plate features a fine reverse-painted scene depicting an enthroned courtly figure with attendants in a garden pavilion setting, over a divided rectangular glass plate. The cushion-moulded black lacquer frame is further embellished with reserves of trailing floral sprays, figures, and trellis-work gilt borders.
