Louis Süe (1875-1968), already a respected architect and designer, formed the Compagnie des Arts Français with André Mare (1887-1932) in 1919, and they designed and produced furniture and decorative items of the highest quality through the 1920s and into the 1930s. The Metropolitan Museum in New York bought one piece from their workshops as early as 1923
