A fine pair of early George III mahogany chairs in the manner of James Wyatt, with tripple arched toprails above pierced splats carved with anthemion above interlaced strap work, the stuffed needlework-covered seats with serpentine fronts raised on moulded and carved front legs ending in block feet
Similar in feeling to the design by James Wyatt for the dining-chairs at Sheffield Park. the design now held in the Noailles Library. Chairs from this set, or at least to this design, probably made by Gillow of Lancaster, are in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, and the Victoria & Albert Museum, London
