A charmingly primitive folk art painting depicting the south east prospect of  Prudhoe Casle,  Northumberland with a horseman leaving the ruined gatehouse being overlooked by a finely dressed couple and an artist, perhaps a self portrait of the artist himself, sketching the scene while seated under a tree. Oil on panel, presented in the original grain-painted frame simulating burr oak.
