Gabriel Vincent Thévenard, 1669-1741, was one of France’s most famous opera stars in the reign of Louis XIV and into the Regency whilst Louis XV was a minor. He studied under the composer André Cardinal Destouches and went on to become a member of the prestigious Académie Royale de Musique, eventually retiring from the stage in 1729
