George III Piranesi Penwork Table Cabinet

A very fine and unusual late George III pen-work table cabinet or collector’s cabinet. The two doors decorated with vestal caryatid figures standing beside burners from Giovanni B. Piranesi’s engraving of The Caryatid building at the fourth mile of the Via Appia. The sides and back decorated with classical fountains and a view of The Warwick Vase also after Piranesi. The doors opening to reveal an interior of gothic traceried windows and an arrangement of silver-handled drawers.
