Louis XVI Style Lamp
A fine 19th century lamp base in Louis XVI style; the engine turned bulbous body finished in an aubergine coloured lacquer finish, standing on a sharply defined ormolu base with a matching capital and neck ring.
Now converted to electricity.

Maison Gagneau, founded in Paris in 1800, was a bronzer and a lightings producer very popular throughout the 19th century. First established at 25, rue d’Enghien, Maison Gagneau settled at 115 rue Lafayette. It participated at the famous French and international exhibitions, les Expositions des Produits de l’Industrie and also Universal Exhibitions and won several distinctions. It was also a member of the jury during the Universal Exhibition of 1889.
