Though certainly based on an engraved source, it has not been possible, as yet, to tie these vases down to any one designer. Many architect/designers produced drawings for Neo-classical vases in the second half of the 18th century, most famously Ennemond Alexandre Petitot (1727-1801), born in France, he found fame and fortune in the Italian duchy of Parma. But others too, like L. N. Percenet (born 1736) who published a suite of vases in 1762, Maurice Jacques (1712-1784) and  André-Louis Caillouet  (active 1778-1817) – in fact many Neo-classical architects produced designs for ornamental vases at one time or another.
