A charming pair of large pastel portraits of two brothers in garden settings, one shown feeding his pet rabbit, the other with his pet pigeon or dove in a basket; the dove pastel signed Huquier on the stone plinth; contained within original, oval giltwood frames
Jacques-Gabriel Huquier (1725-1805) arrived in England, probably some time in 1770, and in 1771 exhibited pastel portraits at the Royal Academy, which he continued to do till 1796.
He worked mainly in London, but is also recorded doing portraits in fashionable Bath in 1780 and in Cambridge in 1783.
He died in Shrewsbury in 1805
