This vase decorated with figures in a continuous landscape can be attributed to the Cappelletti workshop. It is a classic example of the taste for decoration that prevailed in the kilns of the Abruzzo city starting from the mid-seventeenth century when they turned to reviving the taste that had been the glory of Italian majolica between the Renaissance and Mannerism. The vast surfaces offered by these vases gave the Castelli painters the opportunity to create animated landscapes, where large figures corm the focal point of the composition.

They were particularly popular with the English nobility and other Grand Tourists from the 16th to the 18th Centuries and are still made in the town to this day.
