Pair of Louis XVI Painted Fauteuils


attributed to Pierre Pillot of Nimes (1758-1822), the moulded frames carved with ribbon-tied flowers and leaves; upholstered in close-nailed tan hide (some damage to the leather)

Pierre Pillot (Paris 1758-Nîmes 1822) was a master menuisier, a student of Mathieu Bauve, he was active in Nimes between 1780 and 1820.

He is known for the production of mainly seats but also consoles and beds in the Neoclassical style.

The museum of Vieux Nîmes has similar seats stamped PILLOT
