Irish George III Painted Satinwood Side Table or Card Table

A fine and rare George III satinwood side table or games table of unusually large scale. The demi-lune top inlaid with a sand shaded fan and delicately painted with a pair of courting birds perched on an arrow festooned with foliate swags, all within rosewood cross-banding. The apron painted with trailing vines and cornucopia shells filled with summer flowers, again within rosewood cross-banding and raised on turned, tapering legs painted with husk pendants. Opening to create an oval, baize-lined playing surface, rather than the standard circular format. The large scale and unusual form would suggest an Irish origin
