A massive mid-19th century Italian patinated bronze wine urn or cistern
of pear-shaped pedestal vase form, the swept moulded circular neck with a domed cover surmounted by an urn finial, the shoulders with twin winged fruiting foliate grotesque masks with oak-leaf aprons united by a boldly scrolling canted arched handle with tapering octagonal knop, the corresponding mask spout set at right angles to one side, on a circular socle base
